Ancillaries & bearing units

Halifax Fan offers a wide range of ancillary equipment and bearing units.

Fan bearing units

Halifax Fan’s own bearing unit has been designed specifically to cope with the high axial and radial loads exerted by modern industrial fans. The units have gained a solid reputation for reliability in service over many years.

Each unit is produced in our own factory and undergoes rigorous testing and inspection as part of the build process.

M type bearing unit

M Series bearing unit

For higher kW ratings used on Arrgt.No.2A fans. The larger “M” series units can also be adapted to allow for oil lubrication instead of the standard grease. They can also be made “easy strip”, this feature allows replacement of the fan bearings without the need to disturb the fan casing or remove the impeller from the shaft.

V type bearing unit

V Series bearing unit

For lower kW ratings used on Arrgt.No. 1 fans.

Units for Vee-Belt driven fans consist of an anti-friction, grease lubricated ball and roller journal pressed onto a precision ground shaft and mounted into a cast iron housing. The NDE ball bearing takes the high axial load generated by the impeller, the DE roller takes up the radial load from the v-belt drive.

Bearing units for In-line driven fans have of two ball bearing arrangement, the NDE ball bearing is coupled with a wave washer to enable some degree of axial movement, whilst taking up the radial load of the impeller, the DE ball bearing is fixed and takes the axial load (end thrust) from the impeller.

Advantages over Plummer block bearings

  • Require less space
  • Capable of running at higher speeds
  • Quieter in operation
  • Extended re-lubrication intervals
  • Much higher ability to withstand end thrust
  • Longer life

We can also offer a range of other bearing options from tradtional Plummer block to hydrodynamic oil lubricated.
